Sock Knitting

There is some great sock knitting advice from Clara Parkes in the Winter 2011/12 issue of Vogue Knitting. She suggests looking at your old socks to see where they wear out first and knitting those areas at a tighter gauge (i.e. going down one needle size). The area can also be reinforced using a darning needle and the same yarn. I think I will try this the next time I knit my mother a pair of socks. She tends to wear a hole at the tip of her big toe. Instead of weaving in the ends of the yarn, I can cut the tail very long and use it to reinforce the toe.

First pair of socks I knit for my Mom.
